Restricted Products Violation

It is quite common to receive a restricted product violation from Amazon. Usually, you will receive a warning that your account is at risk of deactivation. If the policy violation is not properly appealed, the account is usually suspended. In my experience, the account will be suspended within 2-3 weeks of the rejected appeal. Many Amazon sellers do not take the violation seriously until the entire account is suspended. It should be noted that it is much easier to fix a policy violation than an account that is suspended. For that reason it is strongly advised that you nip the problem in the bud.

I have dealt with restricted products for pesticide products, cannabis accessories and medical products. As a seller you have to adhere to the rules and regulations of each jurisdiction that you are selling in. Sometimes a vape pen is restricted in Canada but not restricted on the U.S. marketplace. It is your professional duty to be aware of the local laws.

Other examples of restricted products in radar detectors in Canada. Even if you try to obscure the fact that you are selling a radar detector by using a misleading title, your Seller account is still at risk of suspension. You can find a list of restricted products for the U.S. and Canada.

If you receive a restricted policy violation you need a properly crafted Plan of Action. You need to clearly explain the root cause, list your corrective actions and detail long term measures that you have taken. The plan of action for restricted products is no different than any other type of plan action in terms of formatting.

Secondly, you need to remove yourself from the listing. If you created the listing, you will need to delete the listing. If you are selling FBA, I recommend that you retrieve the restricted product inventory.

Sometimes the algorithm triggers a restricted product violation in error. This is usually because there is some keyword in your title or description that has triggered the violation. If that is the case, you need to explain that in your POA and state that the violation was in error.
